Very recently, BW Healthcare World of BW Businessworld along with knowledge partner AliveCor conducted a round table discussion with the senior most cardiologists of the country on the topic of – “Remote Cardiac Monitoring – Way to Save More Lives” as AliveCor introduced its personal electrocardiogram (ECG) technology. Dr. T.S. Kler, Padma Bhushan and Chairman, Fortis Heart and Vascular Institute, Fortis Memorial Research Institute was the session chair. Moderated by Harbinder Narula, CEO – BW Healthcare World and BW Wellbeing World, there was an introduction by Dr. Kler on how over decades in our nation, three diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and heart related diseases have been increasing. He feels over the last 30 to 40 years junk food has been a major problem. Hence, our diet and lifestyle have increased our problems. Smoking and an

unhealthy diet has been the biggest problem along with lack of exercise. The discussion was contributed to by Dr. Subhash Chandra – Chairman and HOD Cardiology, BLK – Max Super Specialty Hospital, Dr. J.P.S. Sawhney – Senior Consultant and Chairman, Department of Cardiology, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Dr. Sunil Dwivedi – Consultant Cardiologist, Manipal Hospital, Millers Road, Bengaluru, Dr. Bipin Kumar Dubey – HOD and Consultant Cardiac Sciences , Manipal Hospitals, Delhi and Dr. Rakesh Rai Sapra – Senior Consultant and Director Cardiology, QRG Super Specialty Hospital Faridabad.

The overall summary of the discussion was around the importance of health education in schools and universities. Also how telemedicine has seen a rapid rise due to the pandemic. All the doctors gave their personal views upon how chewing tobacco is a big problem in our nation. There came a point in the discussion where it was brought up that any factors such as stress management and healthy lifestyles need to be urgently looked into.
