7:45 Learn more about melatonin!

Let’s talk about sleep and how to sleep better. Sleep is a powerful predictor of all-cause mortality. If you get less than five hours of sleep per night, your risk of dying increases by about 12%.

The real problem that affects our sleep is an abundance of artificial light. All of this artificial light inhibits melatonin, which is triggered by darkness.

However, there is a different type of melatonin triggered by infrared light, which is produced by the sun—sun exposure is crucial to support better sleep.

Melatonin has a lot of functions that go beyond supporting sleep. It’s a powerful antioxidant that gives you energy and helps protects against disease.

Natural ways to improve your sleep quality:
1. Expose yourself to the sun or bright light therapy for 30 minutes when you wake up

2. Expose yourself to the sunset during the evening, red light therapy during the day, or sunlight during the day

3. Exercise

4. Keep your room cooler

5. Take magnesium before bed

Vitamin D, zinc, and ashwagandha are also great natural remedies for sleep.
